Land Mobility Projects

ANGOKA is trusted by 50% of government-funded autonomous vehicle projects in the UK. Here are some of the innovative programmes we're a partner in.

Harlander

This project is a vital component in Northern Ireland’s Belfast Harbour Estate sustainable transportation plan. Current visitor numbers of over 3.6 million people a year are predicted to rise to more than 5.6 million by 2035 as a result of a major investment programme. The first Belfast Harbour project shuttles are due to enter passenger service in 2025.​​​​​​​​​​​

SAMS

The Sunderland Advanced Mobility Shuttle (SAMS) initiative will test a self-driving, emissions-free Auto-Shuttle. This shuttle will ferry passengers between Sunderland Interchange, Sunderland Royal Hospital, and the University of Sunderland City Campus on public roads. The project aims to establish and showcase a secure remote supervision protocol, paving the way for future commercial use.

V-CAL

​The V-CAL project involves the deployment of  zero-emission autonomous Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) on private roads within the Nissan Sunderland site. During these operations, the autonomous HGVs will navigate through road features such as traffic lights, roundabouts, and interact with other road users. This is a crucial milestone in the progression of the technology, paving the way for potential future deployment on public roads.​​​​​​​​​

Air Mobility Projects

ANGOKA is trusted by 30% of government-funded civil aviation drone projects in the UK. Here are some of the exciting initiatives we're involved in.

SKYWAY

The Skyway consortium is working together in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority to revolutionise the world of aviation by enabling drones to travel Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) - extending the distance they can travel, a factor that is currently limiting their full potential.

Project ALIAS

ALIAS is a consortium of SMEs delivering the necessary elements of an agile and scalable airspace system. It features several increasingly complex flight trials and ultimately will establish a flexible and resilient Uncrewed Traffic Management system over the Channel Islands. This system will be suitable for drones, manned aircrafts, and air taxis with the aim being to bring societal and economic benefits to the UK.

Project PORTAL

Project PORTAL is part of Innovate UK’s Future Flight Challenge Programme. Project PORTAL is a disruptive system-of-systems approach to infrastructure technology for vertiports and aims to develop the technology needed to safely deploy landing locations at scale.

STEP

STEP pilot programme will enable supply chains SMEs in Northern Ireland to engage with large companies and use innovative, new solutions to overcome technology challenges – unlocking new potential markets and building UK space capabilities, as asserted by the National Space Strategy.​

ReHawSec

As part of the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) ANGOKA is building a demonstrator to validate the technology in a realistic defence scenario such as UAS communication.

 5G-SatCom

Secure 5G-SatCom communications for UAVs. ANGOKA is delivering a pre-productisation prototype of a 5G and SatCom-enabled version of a device that provides UAVs with electronic conspicuity and communication security, including unique and unforgeable Remote ID, device and message authentication and encryption.
